DETAIL OF CRAFTMANSHIP
Description Of Components
Toe or instep crampons–On the undersides of the bindings, so they pivot with your feet and dig in as you climb. This is the primary source of traction on most snowshoes.Heel crampons–Would be roughly as far back as the heel of your boots, located on the underside of the decking. The hybrid deck/binding features–A rigid steel pin fitted to a flexible strap.A series of straps–Usually three, are used to fasten the foot to the snowshoe. Some styles of binding use a cup for the toe. It is important that a user be able to manipulate these straps easily, as removing or securing the foot often must be done outdoors in cold weather with bare hands, exposing him or her to the possibility of frostbite. When putting on snowshoes, left is distinguished from right by which way the loose ends of the binding straps point: always outward, to avoid stepping on them repeatedly.
How To Put On Snowshoes
Some snowshoes are universal and can go on either foot. Others will have the right and left foot labeled on the snowshoe.
Place the ball of your foot in the center of the binding. Your foot shouldn’t be too far forward or too far back of the snowshoe.Tighten all straps or bindings (toe, heel, in-step). Make sure it’s not too tight or too loose. If any excess from straps, make sure you tuck them in so you don’t step on them while snowshoeing.Head out and have fun! After snowshoeing, brush off any snow or ice balls from your snowshoes. To help prevent ice balls in wet snow, apply a lubricant such as a ski wax to the bottom of your snowshoe. Be careful not to over-apply!
What Size Snowshoes Do I Need?
The sizing of snowshoes depends largely on your height and weight (including pack weight). Check the sizing and weight recommendations for the model you’re interested in.For the length, a longer snowshoe makes it easier to travel through powder because there’s a larger surface area. However, a longer snowshoe is more challenging to take up and down steep terrain.Consider the snowshoe’s weight recommendations and your shoe size to choose the correct size. Use the weight recommendations to determine how much weight (bodyweight + gear) you can carry in deep powder without sinking heavily, but make sure the snowshoe fits your boot size.

🎿Binding: When snowshoe bindings are challenging to get in and out of, or they don’t stay tightened in place, a peaceful adventure can quickly turn into a frustrating experience. BORUNDA snowshoes use the most comfortable double ratchet buckles bindings spread the force of retention over a broad area which allow you can move separately from the frame of your snowshoe. This binding can accept a variety of footwear, from hiking boots to snowboard boots.
🎿Decking:Flat surface of the snowshoe that allows you to walk on top of the snow by spreading your weight over a greater surface area. Made of HDPE, which is tear resistance under extreme cold.
🎿Heel lifts: With stainless steel climbing bars (or Televators on some brands), these wire bails can be flipped up under your heels to relieve calf strain and save energy on steep uphill sections. They can be flipped down and out of the way when not being used.
🎿Package Included: a pair of snowshoes + a pair of Snowshoeing Poles + a pair of Gaiters + a Carrying bag
